Nursing College of Hebei University
Heibei University, originally founded in 1921, is the only key comprehensive university co-established by the province and the ministry in Hebei Province. It was listed in the National Project of Enhancing Comprehensive Power of the Universities in the Midwest in 2012. Hebei University has three campuses (the old campus, the new campus and the medical faculty) and covers an area of 192 hectares (with a floor area of 1,000,000 m2). The 30 colleges and 5 teaching departments of the university provide 87 undergraduate majors, 40 primary disciplines authorized for the master’s degree, 19 primary disciplines authorized for the professional master degree and 9 primary disciplines authorized for the doctoral degree. There are 41,000 undergraduate students, with 350 international students. The number of graduate students and doctorate candidates is 5,500.
Nursing College of Hebei University was founded in 1984 and incorporated in Hebei University in 2005. Its undergraduate education was begun in 2006. In 2011, Nursing College of Hebei University was granded the first level discipline master’s degree in nursing and begun to recruit graduate students in the next year. For 30 years, Nursing College of Hebei University has graduated more than 60,000 nurses, nurse managers, educators and researchers to serve in Heibei and beyond. There are 20 full-time and 40 part-time professional staffs, including 35 professors and associate professors and 3 visiting professors. Now, it has nearly 800 undergraduates and 26 graduate students.
Orienting at the major demands of nursing development, the college established several laboratories (e.g. healthy ageing innovation experiment lab, fundamentals of nursing, simulative ICU, health assessment and physique training room) for nursing education and research. The teaching and practicing bases are located in Beijing, Tianjin and Heibei, including Peking University People’s Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University, the First Central Hospital of Baoding, the Sixth People’s Hospital of Hebei, Community Health Service Center and Nursing Home, etc.
The interesting fields of Nursing College are clinical care (especially chronic disease care), elderly care, community care and psychiatric and mental health care. Over 20 provincial-level projects have been conducted in these research fields. Additionally, Nursing College also drives collaborative innovation and serves the physical and mental health of the Chinese people. There is an cooperation between nursing college and General Administration of Sports of China to investigate the physique status of people from Xiongan New Area.
Nursing College is an open school. It has established cooperation with universities and research institutes in the United States of America, Canada, England, Australia, Singapore, etc. For example, Nursing College has an cooperation with the Baycrest Global Solutions, Canada. The experts from Baycrest will visit the school in September 2018. Moreover, young teachers of the college also have opportunities to pursue further study overseas.
